Welcome Back

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone was able to rest, recharge, and enjoy themselves this summer.  I know we all needed it. I am excited to welcome all our 6th grade students and families into the Alta Loma Family, our Ramily!

Without a doubt, we are on the road to a successful and adventurous school year. Our devoted office team came back in July refreshed and ready to continue  helping families with the new online registration system, ordering needed materials, and updating student files. Our custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility. Our teachers have been working hard preparing their classrooms and curriculum to provide an outstanding education.  And, our much-appreciated PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs. If you want to join our wonderful community but worry that your time is limited to volunteer, that is okay. We are striving for 100% PTA membership this year and have room for all levels of commitment.  Alta Loma is a caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students, and promoting high-level learning. New Staff

As many of you know we said goodbye to some of our staff last year and wish them the best in their new endeavors. Every new year brings change and this includes some wonderful additions to the Alta Loma Staff. It is with excitement that I welcome our new teachers and staff for the 2022-23 school year. You may notice some of our new positions are staff members who have previously served in other roles at the site or district level.

Facilities Update

WOW! Things are changing. When you get a moment to walk around campus you may notice some  beautiful school improvement projects. On June 17th Hands on Bay Area and Genentech partnered to create a colorful welcoming space for our students. We have added several murals to both the  library and PE locker rooms. In addition, we have our very own outdoor classroom and outdoor individual work spaces. If you walk on our blacktop you may notice the color on our basketball courts. We cannot thank Hands on Bay Area and Genentech for this beautiful upgrade. We are lucky to live in this community and partner with Genentech. Their generosity and support is unmatchable.

In addition, you may have heard the destruction of concrete or witnessed large construction vehicles entering Alta Loma over the summer. We have a large Civil Project focusing on drainage and adding plants and life to our campus. The project is estimated to be completed by Aug. 12th. When the project is complete it will add some beauty to the Alta Loma campus, too.

Finally, we have increased the internet capacity on our campus. The district will finish the network change on Aug. 5. We will now have fast and consistent internet throughout our campus.

It is with excitement and zeal that I welcome the Ramily into the 2022-23 school year. I look forward to seeing many of you on Thursday, Aug. 4 for our Registration Day and throughout the year. Go Rams!

Sincerely,
Nina Mendez, Principal
