Dear 8th Grade Families,

Time to celebrate!  After carefully planning and approval based onstrict adherence to County Order guidelines, we are so pleased to invite you toour 8th Grade Class of 2021 Promotional Car Parade.  On Wednesday, May 26th, at your designated time (see at the bottom), we ask that you approach our campusfrom Romney Avenue. Please do not tryand approach and turn off of Del Monte Avenue  because congestionat the 4-way intersection could potentially create a public nuisance andconfusion for our traffic flow.

In order to host this type of Highly Regulated Vehicle-Based Gathering, we do need you to comply with the guidelines and expectations outlined below:

Guidelines & Expectations: In accordance with our County’s Health Orders please adhere to the following:

  • Only ONE vehicle per 8th-grade student will be allowed through the main gate.
    • 8th-grade students must be in their family vehicle with only members from the same household.  As an exception, if a student has two separate households, then each parent and family members may participate in their separate vehicles.
    • Student(s) should be seated on the passenger side (right side) of the vehicle.
    • The number of occupants in a vehicle cannot exceed the number of seatbelts.
    • All occupants will wear masks or face coverings when windows are down
    • Limos, Buses, RVs, Motorcycles, convertibles with the top open, vehicles with no doors, or bicycles will not be permitted (families driving in prohibited vehicles will have to be turned away at the gate).

During the entirety of theevent, every participant, excluding the host (school principal), personnel, and security, must remain in a fully enclosed motorized vehicle.  Students will briefly exit the car with their masks on to receive their gift bag, certificate  and commemorative kukui lei as their names are broadcasted over the P.A. by Mr. Reichle. A tripod and digital camera operated by staff members will take a photo of each student that will later be distributed to all students.

  • No students can sit, stand, or lean out of car windows or sunroofs.
  • No one may exit a vehicle at any time, except in an emergency situation (ex. unplanned trip to the restroom).

Please note that decorating your family vehicle is permitted and encouraged with the following guidelines:

  • All safe driving regulations are followed; including speed limit
  • Decorations are appropriate for a school function.  Please include the student’s name.
  • No items are thrown from car windows (ex. Confetti or streamers)

If for any reason you cannot drive through the car parade activity, please contact Dr. Pallitto at [email protected] and we will contact you and develop a plan to use the district van if unable to procure a vehicle or pick up the promotional gift bag at a later date.  We understand this was not the 8th grade promotion we had envisioned; however, our staff and the 8th Grade PTA volunteers had a deep desire to provide a memorable and heartfelt tribute to the Class of 2021 in the best way possible.  Congratulations!!!  Our motors are humming with anticipation!
