Safety
At Alta Loma Middle School, student safety is our top priority. Our community is safest when students, parents, and staff understand school rules and expectations and know how to respond if concerns arise. If anyone witnesses a violation of school rules, please report it immediately to help maintain a safe environment for all.
If your child feels uncomfortable making a report, you can support them by contacting a staff member directly and encouraging them to share the information with their teacher, counselor, or administrator. We also accept anonymous reports and strive to maintain confidentiality whenever possible.
Emergency Preparedness
At the beginning of each school year, families receive an emergency card to list the people authorized to pick up their child. Please fill this out thoroughly to ensure your child’s safety.
The School Site Council reviews, adopts, and submits a School Safety Plan (SSP) to the district office each year. This plan aligns with state and federal guidelines for disaster and emergency preparedness.
To keep our school community ready for any situation, Alta Loma Middle School practices fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills throughout the year. We follow the BIG 5 safety protocols to ensure students, staff, and teachers are prepared.
Emergency Procedures
For detailed procedures and guidance, visit the SSFUSD Emergency Procedures page.
Remember, there is a difference between “telling” and “tattling.” If an activity or action is harmful, witnesses should either report the incident themselves or tell a trusted adult or staff member who can make a report.
Student Pickup:
Any adult picking up a child must present a valid ID. By law, children cannot be released to anyone without identification. This ensures the safety of every student.
